Alissa Kleist enjoys toying with the interplay between fiction and reality, creating work that  aims to question both existing value systems and how our perception of value is constructed.

Alissa Kleist was born in Amsterdam in 1986 and lives and works in Belfast. This year she completed the Master of Fine Art programme at University of Ulster, Belfast. Awards include the Cork Printmakers Annual Bursary and the Belltable Graduate Award. Kleist has exhibited in solo and group shows in Ireland and abroad as well as having partaken in a number of projects and residencies, most notably art@work 2010 and the UNESCO supported ‘Sensucht nach Ebene 2 ‘ Ruhr area Capital of Culture 2010 initiative. Recent shows include group shows at the Void, Derry; Artlink, Donegal; Make9, Belfast and Fieldwork, Galway. She is a founding member of the Belfast-based art collective, PRIME.
