About

Belfast based artists Charlotte Bosanquet, Alissa Kleist and Tonya McMullan initiated PRIME in January 2011. PRIME aims to provide a mutually supportive context in which to develop work, benefiting from networking and learning opportunities amongst the group and with other art professionals. The group meets on a monthly basis to further understand and analyse their own practises and that of others as well as actively seeking opportunities for the group to exhibit and curate works.

The meetings also serve as a platform to discuss any research including films, literature, critical texts and visual art.

The Collective’s aim is to have a flexible working ethic that encourages collaboration and communication. Within our combined practice we propose questions on the nature of prearranged structures, using manuals, relaxation tapes and the process and aesthetic of archiving. Research through archiving is a large part of what the Collective is interested in and manifests through a process based approach to making works.

The group actively encourages collaborations with other artists and organisations. These collaborations can take the form of guest artist / curators, seminars, talks and critiques.

The arrangement is not immutable, and each member of the group is free to show/ curate and otherwise continue their practise outside of the structure of the group.

Please feel free to contact us if you would like to contribute to PRIME’s activities.
